USBR 20 in Minnesota begins at the WI line at the Prescott Drawbridge. In Hastings it joins USBR 45 and shares routing until St. Cloud. The route takes advantage of state and regional trails, with more than two-thirds of the route on off-road trails. U.S. Bicycle Route (USBR) 20 is NOT signed.
In St. Cloud the route heads NW on the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail. In Osakis, the route begins following the Central Lakes State Trail. Leaving Fergus Falls, the route joins the North County Trail.
The route then follows county roads until south of Pelican Rapids. At Maplewood State Park, USBR 20 continues on the Heart of the Lakes Trail. The route then follows a county road with generous paved shoulders, passing through Barnesville and Sabin.
Entering Moorhead, the route joins off-road trails then ends on the Red River at the North Dakota border.
